How an operation picks its node.

LEADER discovers the leader and sends everything to it. PINNED sends everything to one operator-chosen node, with no discovery at all. ROUND_ROBIN spreads operations across the configured nodes.

The override is absolute: a pinned client never probes topology and never re-routes on its own, because the reason to pin is usually that discovery cannot be trusted in that deployment (a proxy in front of the cluster, a node reachable only through one address, a benchmark that must hold a single node). Writes sent to a follower are rejected by the daemon rather than silently redirected -- that visibility is the point.
